Cover Story: Anshan Cultural Tourism District Phase One Master Planning, Liaoning, China

In the large stretch land of 12.5 square kilometers in Anshan’s cultural tourism district in the People's Republic of China, G|SaaN proposed to adapt and protect, i.e. adapting economic goals of the region to the natural forces at work, protecting the hills, streams, greens and villages in its natural form, introducing “smart growth” as development strategy in order to grow sustainably. Vast greenbelts will connect existing hills and wildness, with small scale town centers connecting the villages into one coherent thriving community. G|SaaN designed a complete set of planning guidelines for the entire tourism district for the next ten and twenty five years.
